The Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT) was developed by Tapas Fleming, an acupuncture therapist. It is a technique that is successful in rapidly reducing the effects of trauma. The process has shown to be effective for eliminating uncomfortable emotions, allergies and pain.

Tapas explains her theory in that: "a trauma is a stuck moment that keeps causing stress. Saying 'No' in that original moment creates a tension because it really did happen and some part of you is still telling it 'No!'. In that moment of trauma, some part of you felt 'I can't survive if this happens to me.' So you said 'No' to it. This creates a duality and is called a yin-yang imbalance in Traditional Chinese Medicine. This means that you create 'I'm over here and I'm keeping that trauma over there, away from me.' Very stressful because the trauma isn't over there, it's really part of you.

TAT is centered in your eyes. Acupressure is performed by the person with the trauma on acupuncture points that focus energy on the eyes. You are 're-viewing' the trauma now and whatever parts of you were saying 'No' now say 'Yes'. You can 'see' that is not a threat now. You'll likely feel some subtle shift in your energy as the trauma is accepted now. You will have dissolved the duality of self and trauma.

The various symptoms you had were based on which part of your body was resisting that trauma. They'll relax and heal now."

What happens during a treatment?

During the actual treatment of a problem, we would ask you to focus on the distressing thought or feeling that you want relieved. We would then show you how to tap on specific acupressure points on the upper body that will introduce kinetic energy into the energy meridians. In most cases, you will feel your distress level dissolve right then and there. There are no needles, no lying down, no repeated emotional catharsis, and no medications.
